Healing timeline

  1. Day 1

    • Some tenderness and watery eyes for the first day
    • Leave the jewellery down. Do not flip it up
    • Sneeze with your mouth open to reduce pressure
  2. Week 1

    • Spray with NeilMed Fine Mist twice a day
    • Pat dry with clean gauze — never rub
    • No pools, hot tubs or sea
  3. Weeks 2–8

    • Swelling settles and any bruising fades
    • Continue saline once a day; skip when calm
    • You can start to flip the jewellery gently once fully healed
  4. After healing

    • From 6–8 weeks the jewellery can be swapped to a ring or clicker
    • Long-term jewellery: implant-grade titanium or 14k+ gold
