Step by step
Healing timeline
Day 1
- Some tenderness and watery eyes for the first day
- Leave the jewellery down. Do not flip it up
- Sneeze with your mouth open to reduce pressure
Week 1
- Spray with NeilMed Fine Mist twice a day
- Pat dry with clean gauze — never rub
- No pools, hot tubs or sea
Weeks 2–8
- Swelling settles and any bruising fades
- Continue saline once a day; skip when calm
- You can start to flip the jewellery gently once fully healed
After healing
- From 6–8 weeks the jewellery can be swapped to a ring or clicker
- Long-term jewellery: implant-grade titanium or 14k+ gold
